If Diablo 2 Resurrected gets that right

In the book Blood, Sweat, and Pixels the chapter that deals with the disaster that occurred during Diablo 3's launch tells the story of how a Blizzard designer played with the game for hundreds of hours before they found a piece of legendary loot. When the orange light finally emerged from an enemy, he approached the item only to find the character he was playing couldn't even get it. The system of D2R Items loot was so fundamentally flawed that the excitement in grinding away for an hour, before finally actually getting something special, was broken.

It was then fixed the point where you were able to only find certain tiers of loot which would fit your character. Additionally, the rate at that early-game legendary items were dropped increased. Therefore, even if the legendary items that you could get did not break the game but you did occasionally experience a tiny dose of dopamine that kept you in the game.

If Diablo 2 Resurrected gets that right and uses a similar loot system similar to Loot2.0 which was introduced in Diablo 3, then we're already concerned about how long we'll be able to devote to the game. Diablo 3's failure is the most beneficial thing that could have happened to the series on a continual basis, and combine it together with the Immortal controversy, it appears like Blizzard has a simple list of potential potholes to avoid if it's to remain in the good books of its best players.

The Diablo 3 community is extremely vocal about what it doesn't like and has been doing so throughout the lifespan of Diablo 3, so we're hopeful that Blizzard will take this feedback from players fortunate enough to experience large parts of the game before it's released. However, we'd bet Blizzard isn't thrilled by the D2R Ladder Items buy tidal wave of leaked footage that seems to follow in the wake of one of these tests.
