Agricultural Bank of China Limited (ABC) released its 2015 Corporate Social Responsibility Report on March 31, which is the ninth one since the first report in 2007. According to the Report, at the end of 2015, ABC had total assets of RMB17,791,393 million, granted loans and advances of RMB8,909,918 million realized RMB180,774 million of net profits and paid RMB90,174 million of taxes. Its social contribution value per share was RMB2.036. ABC has been enrolled as one of the global systemically important banks for two consecutive years since 2014. In 2015, ABC ranked 36th in Fortune 500, and ranked 6th in the top 1000 global banks of The Banker by tier-1 capital.

According to the report, in 2015, ABC actively integrated such philosophy of responsibility as “giving priority to responsibility, benefiting the general public, taking the lead in fulfilling responsibilities, promoting the wellbeing of the society” into its strategy formulation, operational management and daily work. It practiced the responsibilities of a large state-owned bank by providing services for “Sannong”, supporting the real economy, improving people’s livelihood, protecting the environment, providing customer services and participating in social co-building. It was devoted to promoting the coordinated and sustainable development of itself and economy, society and the environment.

As for economic responsibilities, ABC enhanced its ability of providing financial services for “Sannong” in an all-around way. It promoted agricultural moderanization, coordinated and boosted new urbanization, supported the construction of beautiful rural areas and assisted farmers in poverty alleviation. At the end of 2015, the balance of ABC loans for leading enterprises reached RMB168.3 billion and the service coverage rates of national-level and provincial-level leading enterprises were 82% and 61% respectively. The balance of ABC loans for rural urbanization was RMB1,230,375 million and that for rural households was RMB167,695 million an increase of RMB13,086 million from the end of last year at a growth rate of 8.5%. ABC made great efforts to cultivate new drivers for the real economy. It issued 2015 Credit Policy Guide of Agricultural Bank of China to strengthen its support to three economic zones (the Belt and Road, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region and Yangtze Economic Belt) and FTA. ABC expanded financial services for the construction of major water conservancy projects and marketed 50 such national major projects with a credit amount of RMB54.3 billion. It lent full support to the development of small and micro businesses of “mass entrepreneurship and innovation”, and the balance of loans for such business was RMB1,088,228 million, an increase of RMB113,308 million from the end of last year at a growth rate of 11.6%. ABC took targeted measures to help people lift themselves out of poverty. Such measures included enhancing credit support to poverty-stricken areas, perfecting sustainable financial poverty-assistance mode, building differentiated system of financial poverty-assistance products and reinforcing its ability of providing basic financial services to poverty-stricken areas. At the end of 2015, ABC supported new agriculture proprietors in 832 key counties for poverty alleviation. It has granted loans of RMB1,285.1 billion since 2011 with the balance of loans for poverty alleviation reaching RMB590.7 billion.

As for environmental responsibilities, ABC granted green credit to support ecological progress. It promoted the internationalization of Chinese green financial bonds by issuing the first green bonds of Chinese financial institutions on London Stock Exchange. ABC brought the green credit into 2015 Credit Policy Guide and perfected its working system from such aspects as policy, procedure and risk control. At the end of 2015, the green credit benefited 4,935 customers and the balance of the loans reached RMB543,131 million. Sticking to the operation philosophy of “green development” and “low-carbon finance”, ABC Head Office reduced the emission of standard coal by 6000 tons and that of greenhouse gas by 18,600 tons in 2015.

As for social responsibilities, ABC accelerated technical innovations to enhance customer experience. By procedure integration and reconstruction, it built the brand-new operation system - BoEing System for urban and rural markets. It forged three internet financial platforms to provide financial services, social life services and e-business services and drive product design and innovation. ABC formulated the Regulation of Agricultural Bank of China on Protection of the Rights and Interests of Customers so as to enhance customer protection and create a sound financial environment. ABC took several measures to promote social harmony. At the end of 2015, there were 23,900 young volunteers who participated in 57,000 voluntary service activities in 97,900 hours in total. The public welfare donations reached RMB36,168,100 in 2015. ABC actively organized various campaigns to popularize financial knowledge and enhance the public’s ability of recognizing and preventing financial risks. ABC forged “sunshine purchase”, with the contract performance rate and the coverage rate of supplier investigation both being 100% in 2015. ABC strengthened the confidence and passion of its teams by learning from each other. It actively promoted the development of management talents, professional talents and skilled talents, and made efforts to realize the vocational development of its staff in multiple directions. It built diversified learning platforms to further improve the professional ability and overall quality of its staff. ABC conducted 1,709,800 staff trainings in 2015. To implement the “six practical things” and promote humanistic care, ABC assisted and condoled over 36,000 needy staff members and carried forward models to strive to be the leading bank in service development.
